Why Care Matters
Premium swimwear is more than just a garment; it is a complex feat of textile engineering. At SwimTailor, we utilize specialized blends of high-gauge nylon and premium spandex to achieve the perfect balance of compression and comfort.
However, the very elements that make beach days memorable—sun, salt, and chlorine—are the primary adversaries of these delicate fibers. Proper care isn't just about cleanliness; it's about extending the life of your bespoke garment, maintaining its architectural shape, and preventing the premature fading of exclusive prints.
The Washing Protocol
Rinse Immediately
After every use, even if you didn't enter the water, rinse your suit in cool, fresh water. This removes residual sunscreen, body oils, and minerals that can degrade fibers over time.
Hand Wash Only
Submerge your suit in a sink filled with cool water and a tablespoon of mild, specialized swimwear detergent. Gently agitate for 3-5 minutes. Never scrub or twist the fabric.

Drying & Storage
Heat is the silent assassin of spandex. High temperatures cause the elastic polymer chains to snap, resulting in "bagging" and loss of shape.
- — Lay flat on a clean, light-colored towel.
- — Dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area.
- — Never hang by the straps (this stretches the fabric).
- — Avoid direct sunlight which acts as a natural bleach.
Chlorine Resistance
Chlorine is a harsh oxidizer that eats away at the elastic fibers in swimwear. To minimize damage, wet your suit with fresh water before entering a pool. This "pre-saturates" the fibers, so they absorb less chlorinated water.
Salt Water Care
Salt crystals act like microscopic sandpaper once dried, grinding into the fibers. Frequent rinsing is critical during ocean days to prevent salt build-up that can lead to fabric abrasion and brittleness.
Fabric Intelligence
Nylon / Spandex
Ultra-soft and high-stretch. Needs the most care. Always hand wash in cool water.
Recycled Poly
Highly durable and chlorine resistant. Great for frequent swimmers, but still avoids high heat.
PBT Polyester
Superior shape retention. Can handle more frequent use but requires regular fresh-water rinsing.
